YAMATO I

Japanese minimalism with bunk beds to maximize the use of space

YAMATO I is our smallest building and closest to the bustling streets of Gion. Minimal simplicity is the theme, bunk beds maximise space with functionality given priority. The first floor hosts a bar that is open to guests and residents, creating a channel of communication with the local community. Having been displayed in New York’s MoMA and other prestigious galleries around the world, Naoki Terada’s Mokei paper model art adds a subtle humour and brings an air of culture to the space.
